I think most people seeking therapy are looking to make a positive change in their lives. Sometimes achieving that change can be helped by simply meeting with a clinician who can see and hear them without judgement. At other times, change occurs by meeting with a clinician who can: 1. Teach and offer the tools they need to cope, or 2. Help them discover (or rediscover) strengths/skills they already have in order to cope. All of these methods help clients enhance their capacity to cope with life's difficulties which increases their confidence & hope moving forward. These are my main therapeutic goals in assisting clients in therapy.
I make great efforts in creating a safe space for clients to come into. I am dedicated to being fully present with them without placing judgement and meeting them where they are at. I specialize in working with children ages 9-12, adolescents, and adults. I also specialize in treating relational difficulties as well as mood, anxiety and behavioral issues.
After 20 yrs of practice, I feel really good about the work I've done with clients. But IMO, good clinical work comes mostly from being teachable and I am consistently improving my practice through continuing education and by learning from clients and colleagues alike. In short, I love assisting others as they progress and achieve their life's aspirations.
