Little is more amazing, complex, and sometimes unsettling, than human thought, emotion, and behavior. This interest, coupled with a love of working with people in a direct and meaningful way, is why I work as a counselor. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Ottawa University and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health from the University of Phoenix. My training background and approach to therapy is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and in Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
I take a holistic perspective on therapy; understanding that a physical, psychological, and social context all significantly influence mental health. I believe that clients should set the pace and goals for their therapy, and that my role is to be supportive and to challenge individuals toward the realization of those goals.
I have been married to my lovely wife for 26 years and have four great kids. My hobbies and interests include traveling as far and as often as possible, reading mainly non-fiction, roaming desert trails on a dirt bike, and listening to and playing music just below hearing damage levels.
