Our beliefs and assumptions about the world inform our feelings, which in turn, influences our behavior. Many of those assumptions however are not entirely our own, or even in our conscious awareness. They come from our parents, communities, traumatic experiences, or a less developed version of ourself. Living a life that does not reflect our authentic values often results in inner conflict that negatively spills outward into our intimate, familial, and professional relationships. Taking time to explore what thoughts and values belong to our authentic selves, is one of the most important gifts an individual can give to themselves.
My psychotherapeutic approach is strongly rooted in Psychodynamic and Systems theories, which are used to explore the ways our environments—at all stages of our development—have influenced our understanding of self, and have thus influenced the ways we function and interact socially today. I have advanced training and clinical experience in EMDR and IFS.
I specialize in Trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, alcohol and substance abuse, grief and loss, and LGBTQ+ experiences. I value creating a nonjudgmental space where individuals take time to comfortably and completely look inward, and collaborate together to bring compassion and self-understanding to the present.
