My ideal clients are those who are open and forthcoming about their needs and feelings. I enjoy working with clients that are interactive and open about improving their lives. With my training in play-therapy, I am able to engage younger clients by play to connect to their innermost world. With older clients, I enjoy offering active listening and focused guidance. Since my clients are minors, I often communicate with parents and keep them abreast of the progress in treatment. My goal is to guide parents as they navigate the difficult parts of parenting, while fostering connection in the family.
I have intensive training in: play-therapy and CBT. Play therapy is a modality that utilizes the child's language of creativity to access their thoughts and feelings. CBT is a modality that targets behaviors by replacing distorted thoughts and feelings with appropriate ones. With both modalities, I can both address clients' feelings and behaviors.
I have always had a passion for helping those in need. I am from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and I grew up watching homeless children in the streets. That is when I decided that my mission in life is to be a safe harbor for others.
