Making the decision to change takes courage. When that change involves our private inner world, it takes the most courage of all. My work is centered on helping clients gain freedom from the complaints that brought them in. My aim is to be an unwavering ally and partner in this journey. We will work together to dismantle belief and behavior patterns that interfere with finding joy and the freedom to live as fully as possible. My areas of specialty are relationship difficulties, life transitions, anxiety, trauma, problematic behaviors with food, and out-of-control behaviors of all kind.
I also work with couples: those who struggle to stay together and those who struggle to stay apart. Together we will identify relational patterns that are interfering with your partnership and renegotiate these dynamics.
I have received post-graduate training in trauma resolution, Somatic Experiencing, mindfulness-based approaches, eating disorder treatment, couples treatment, and psychodynamic methods. I draw from many ways of working, finding an approach that works best for each client. I am LGBTQ affirming.

Establishing a Meditation Practice
![Photo of Amy Bernstein, LCSW-R, SEP, Clinical Social Work/Therapist](https://photos.psychologytoday.com/4971998a-46cd-11ea-a6ad-06142c356176/2/320x400.jpeg)
We know the benefits of a regular meditation practice are many, yet sitting with ourselves in its simplicity and solitude is astonishingly difficult. In subtle (and not so subtle) ways, we struggle with what is, by avoiding or fighting against what is happening inside ourselves. This workshop will be a support for establishing, reestablishing, or going deeper into a regular practice by holding the context of being with what arises in our bodies and in our minds as we sit with ourselves.
