Mindfulness Stress Reduction
8-week mindfulness-based stress reduction group teaching mindfulness meditation. Assists in teaching people to better take care of themselves and to encourage an active response to chronic illness, pain, anxiety, depression, and other stressors in your life. CDs and practice guide are provided. Participants learn to achieve deep states of relaxation and gain an awareness of the connection between emotional distress and physical tension/pain. New attitudes towward change and coping with difficult transitions are explored and taught. Maximum number of participants is 10. Program is modeled after the Stress Reduction clinic at U.Mass M.C.
