Dara Winley Ph.D.
Dr. Dara Winley works with children and their families, individuals, and couples with conflict. Dr. Winley has a passion for and commitment to working with parents whose children are dealing with emotional and behavioral regulation difficulties, low self-esteem, racial trauma, and identity development. Trained in Attachment-Based Family Therapy, she also seeks to repair attachment ruptures in intergenerational relationships.
Currently, she primarily works with couples with conflict. She utilizes various treatment approaches such as Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy, Gottman Methods, and the study of attachment styles and family-of-origin experiences. Her understanding and sensitivity to multiculturalism and its impact on the therapeutic process is a major part of her work. Dr. Winley has worked with diverse communities and embraces the unique backgrounds each of her clients come from. Her overall therapeutic approach includes incorporating several schools of therapy and tailoring interventions to best fit the needs of her clients.
In addition to her clinical practice, she is also an Assistant Professor in the Couple and Family Therapy Department at Adler University in Chicago where she teaches and prepares graduate students to become socially responsible marriage and family therapists. She is also an Approved AAMFT Supervisor.
