Postscript to the ‘Dylan Farrow' Blog
The culture for calling out abusers has dramatically changed for the positive
Posted February 6, 2018
Today I read a follow-up article by Nicholas Kristoff in the New York Times, from February 4, 2018. ‘Woody Allen Meets #MeToo’ is about the incestuous molestation of Dylan Farrow. I wrote a blog four years ago about his original article written in 2014. In the light of the cultural changes that have happened recently, it is timely once again. Because so many people admire Woody Allen, he gets a free pass, like Roman Polanski. Hollywood actors would sell their soul to make a movie with him, and they did. Fortunately, things are changing.
As a psychiatrist, I know the tremendous damage from molestation and incest, and how difficult it is to face the inner pain so that one can truly move on. Dylan has been in a fight for the survival of her soul for her entire life. She is taking back her life through her persistence and incredible courage. I am pleased that she is now believed and vindicated. This is so important for the confidence to move on towards a loving and meaningful life.
