Marty Babits, Co-Director of Family and Couples Treatment Service, a division of the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy in New York City, is a Board Certified Diplomate in advanced clinical social work. His latest book, I'm Not a Mind Reader: Using Three Dimensional Communication to Make Your Relationship Better was honored as Finalist in the 2016 International Book Awards and the 2016 Bookvana Awards in the Self-Help category. His previous book, The Power of the Middle Ground: A Couples Guide to Renewing Your Relationship features a compassionate and contemporary approach to helping couples strengthen their relationships. He has also written numerous articles on the therapeutic process. Certified as a reading specialist, he became intrigued with understanding the family interactions that best helped his dyslexic students—children and adults—to learn to read and to improve their self-esteem. As a result, Babits obtained licensure in social work and earned Post-Masters certification in psychodynamic psychotherapy from Hunter College. He is also certified as a clinician in the practice of family and couples therapy and as a practitioner of E.M.D.R. He is in private practice in New York City.
