Katie Hoemann, Ph.D., is an assistant professor and the Dale J. Weary Faculty Fellow of Social Psychology at the University of Kansas. She wants to know what is going on in the mind, the body, and the world when people experience emotion, how people come to make meaning of their experiences as emotion, and how we can harness emotion concepts and language for individual and societal benefit. Katie received her Ph.D. in 2020 from Northeastern University. She has been awarded fellowships from Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO), the European Commission’s Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, and the U.S. National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. Katie is an associate editor for Affective Science and a consulting editor for Emotion. In 2022, she received the Early Career Award from the Society for Ambulatory Assessment and in 2024 was designated a Rising Star by the Association for Psychological Science.
