Charlotte Markey, Ph.D., is a professor of psychology and chair of the health sciences department at Rutgers University, where she teaches courses on The Psychology of Eating to hundreds of students each year. She has been doing research examining eating behaviors and body image for nearly three decades . Her latest book is Adultish: The Body Image Book for Life (2024, Cambridge), which is a follow-up to Being You: The Body Image Book for Boys (2022), and The Body Image Book for Girls: Love Yourself and Grow Up Fearless (2020; these books are for tweens, teens, young adults, and those who care for them). Her other books include The Encyclopedia of Mental Health (2023; Elsevier, co-editor), Body Positive (2018, Cambridge, co-editor) and Smart People Don’t Diet (2014).
