Bret Lyon, Ph.D., SEP, and his wife and colleague, Sheila Rubin, MA, LMFT, are founders and co-directors of the Center for Healing Shame and authors of Embracing Shame: How to Stop Resisting Shame and Transform It Into a Powerful Ally and Healing Shame: How to Work with this Powerful, Mysterious Emotion. They have taught therapists and professionals worldwide how to identify and work with shame. Bret has doctorates in both psychology and drama and has taught at Tufts University, Pomona College, and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, as well as writing and directing plays in regional theater and off-the-Broadway. Sheila is both an MFT and a registered Drama Therapist and has taught at CIIS and JFK University, as well as practicing as an eating disorder specialist and directing Embodied Life Story performances.
