Saul Levine M.D., is Professor Emeritus in Psychiatry at the University of California at San Diego. He is the author of many professional articles as well as books for the public, including Radical Departures: Desperate Detours to Growing Up; Dear Doctor: Sensitive Answers to Troubling Questions of Teenagers; Tell Me It's Only a Phase: A Guide for Parents of Teenagers; Phoenix from the Ashes: Rebuilding Shattered Lives; Against Terrible Odds: Lessons in Resilience from Children; and most recently, Our Emotional Footprint: Ordinary People and Their Extra-Ordinary Lives.

His research and clinical interests include "Our Emotional Footprint", ie the effects we have on others; Vicissitudes/changes/dramas in all lives; highs and lows, love and losses, setbacks and successes in all our lives; Intense belief systems and cults; Human Resilience; The "Four B's: Being, Belonging, Believing and Benevolence", or how we authentically evaluate our own lives; the capacity of humans to be compassionate, inspiring, benevolent, loving, and, unfortunately our darker tendencies of aggression, hate and violence.
