Charles Harper Webb, Ph.D., is a professor of English at California State University, Long Beach. A former professional rock singer and lead guitarist, he holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from USC and was a clinical psychotherapist for more than a decade. Recipient of a Whiting Writer's Award and a fellowship from the Guggenheim Foundation, Webb has published 12 collections of poetry, including Shadow Ball: New and Selected Poems, and Sidebend World, both from the University of Pittsburgh Press. His book of literary essays, A Million MFAs Are Not Enough, was published by Red Hen Press, which will publish his novel, Ursula Lake, in May 2022. He is an avid outdoorsman and fly-fisherman.
