If you're an immigrant looking to re-integrate parts of your culture of origin after moving to Canada, you might often feel rootless and lost, having to assimilate out of necessity. You may grieve silently, feel isolated and misunderstood, and sometimes carry shame, fear, and regret for what was lost during your migration. Or maybe you are the child of brave immigrants and struggle to explain your unique fusion of cultures. You desire a successful life in Canada while honouring your heritage, which requires balancing cultures that can sometimes conflict or contradict each other.
I walk with these people in their grief, hear the stories of their homeland, help them discover community and connection, and guide them in rediscovering what their culture means to them. Together, we look for ways to include meaningful cultural practices and ritual to their daily lives, and how best to reconnect their old identity with their new identity.
I invite those who experience a slight pain in their heart at the thought of their land, people & culture to reach out to explore the possibility of reconnecting to your roots.
