Dan Bates, Ph.D., has over 15 years of experience in the mental health field. He specializes in working with men in various counseling contexts; additionally, he sees couples, families, and individuals using an integration of evidence-based counseling approaches. Bates earned a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision, and he serves as an assistant professor of counseling at Truman State University. He is actively involved in researching scale development to measure positive masculinity and teaching research methods, assessments, and theories and techniques. Bates has presented at numerous professional conferences and speaking engagements, sharing insights into positive masculinity, gender-adapted treatment models, and innovative counseling techniques. In addition to his clinical and academic roles, he is an avid writer, currently working on several book projects, including a textbook on counseling male clients and a textbook about research methods for counselors-in-training.
