Emily Hylton-Jean, Ph.D., MPH, is a psychologist, writer, and consultant committed to bridging the gap between scientific research and public knowledge. Her scholarly research has focused on the intersections of mental health and public health, including publications on traumatic stress, depression, sexual identity, stigma, and HIV. As a clinician, she specializes in PTSD, borderline personality disorder, and health psychology. As a consultant, she has led research, evaluation, program development, and strategic planning processes for philanthropic foundations, UN agencies, and non-governmental organizations in the Middle East and United States. She holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Miami, where she was a UM Fellow, and a master’s degree in public health from the Johns Hopkins University, where she was a Sommer Scholar. She lives in Atlanta, Georgia, with her husband and kids and is always on the hunt for the perfect pastry.
