I am Ymke Hemminga (pronounce Ym as (g)ym) As a Person Centred Wellness Counsellor I offer a safe, empathic and non-judgemental space in which my clients can explore and work through overwhelming and distressing thoughts, feelings and patterns. I love uncovering, highlighting, or dusting off hidden strengths and talents in my clients, allowing them to become who they really want to be. My goal is to empower my clients to make the changes they need to continue with their life in a lighter, more conscious, confident and resilient manner. I use SFB/Narrative/Strengths/Compassion-based, and Trauma informed counselling when needed.
I use an integrated Person Centered approach, adjusting to my clients' individual needs, embracing the key values of Empathy, Congruence and Unconditional Positive Regard throughout the counselling process. I am also a Parent Effectiveness Training (P.E.T) instructor, a Tree of Life practitioner and a Traumatic Incident Reduction (T.I.R) facilitator.
Many of us have accumulated emotional injuries. Some small, some bigger, some from unresolved (childhood) trauma, leaving us feeling angry, anxious, sad, numb, guilty, shameful, stuck or hopeless. Heavy feelings unfortunately don't disappear when left unadressed. I can help by empowering you to explore and resolve these feelings that are weighing you down.
