Lastly, I help couples work through the devastation of infidelity - emotional or physical.
The pain of continued relational conflict, that just never seems to be resolved can eat at your soul, leaving you feeling alone and exhausted. The desire to have your partner know your pain and see your hurt is what you long for. Whether the pain has been caused by them, or whether you suffer from the pain of abuse at the hands of caregivers or others in your childhood, you want someone to know and understand what you are going through. You want the pain to stop and become free and whole. Sometimes you just wish you could run away.

I believe the way a person thinks, influences their emotions which impacts on their behaviour. Therefore examining foundational thinking and values will foster healing of emotions and eventually lead to change in behavior. Do you feel like you don't have a voice, helpless and marginalized. Come to the counseling space to process life issues.

I provide a space for clients to feel safe and to allow them to loosen their defences they needed to protect themselves and to understand their inner world and change old repetitive and obstructive patterns of being and relating. My focus is in working with young and older adults. I also include expressive therapy approaches, where needed, as a means to access emotions and experiences that are difficult to verbalise.

My passion is working with clients who want to develop themselves at a personal and relational level. My ideal client is someone who has experienced great difficulty in life, whether it's an issue that persists from childhood or is more a recent trauma or setback; someone who understands that they need help and want to move forward in their lives, bringing tangible and sustainable change.....and freedom. I get excited about the transformational aspect that therapy can bring.

I work with couples and individuals. Couple work often begins with addressing conflict: how communication isn't working, causing the couple distress. In individual work, themes of identity (disharmony between how you feel and how you want to be perceived by others), relational issues (friction between people) and life transitions (adjusting to significant change) are often the focus. When counsellor and client "click" the client has the opportunity to understand the reasons why they think certain things or behave in certain ways. This offers the possibility of shifting relationship patterns in a healthy way.

Each person brings their own experiences and challenges into their personal and professional environments. Aligning yourself to form healthy productive relationships can be challenging in the best of circumstances. How much more so, when there are barriers limiting you from achieving your full potential. You must break through the denial and learn the tools that will improve your interactions with others. This takes courage & it’s difficult. Let let me help you improve your quality of life.

Infidelity Counsellors
How does therapy for infidelity work?
A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.
How long does therapy for infidelity take?
Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.
How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?
When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.
How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?
Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
