Reaching out for help is probably one of the hardest thing to do. One of the hardest things about reaching out is. Having to talk to a complete stranger but even though a counsellor tends to be described as a stranger, it could be the right person for you. As a counsellor I pride myself in being an active listener, compassionate and non judgemental. I love working and interacting with individuals/ groups with the aim of finding plausible solutions to problems. No one deserves to carry and solve problems on their own. Reaching out can be the first step towards recovery.

My practice provides a safe, non-judgmental space for clients struggling with issues related to trauma, grief, addiction, anxiety, relationship issues, having difficulty with everyday challenges related to work or academics, major life changes and other related problems.
Our society struggles with prioritizing their mental health. As a Clinical Psychologist, I am here to advocate for mental health through consultation services and group workshops. Acknowledging that you need help and furthermore taking a step towards obtaining such help is not an indication of a "weakness" or " Failure". Rather, it is an indication of courage, strength and resourcefullness.

I am a Clinical Psychologist in private practice with a focus on depression, anxiety, bipolar mood disorder, trauma and stress related problems, and addiction.
As we move through life, we are often faced with many challenges and sometimes even moments that turn our lives upside down. Traumatic events and distressing experiences often leave us feeling lost, defeated and unsure. Everyone deals with these situations in their own way. At times, we are able to manage and cope rather well however, some challenges and tragedies can start to feel overwhelming and hard to cope with on our own. I know what it’s like to be caught in turbulent times. That is why I put my heart and soul into helping individuals make sense of these moments, put their life back together and find contentment and purpose.

“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending” (C.S Lewis) To reach out to a psychologist might feel scary and overwhelming but it might also be one of the bravest things you can do! I am willing to take your hand through your difficulty, and allow you space to talk, to be, to vent and to ask the questions you are so afraid to answer alone. Sometimes therapy can be challenging, maybe overwhelming and at times difficult, but you are not alone and in the end I hope that you can say “it was worth it all”. May this be a meaningful experience for you.

I am a firm believer of the fact that every single person has a life story worthy of being heard. Some stories might seem messy, chaotic and unfinished. Others might seem intriguing, exciting and “figured out”. Point is, everyone has their own story. And as a person who is completely passionate about being a clinical psychologist, I see myself as a friendly, approachable and compassionate human being who will give her best in making this daunting process of seeking therapy a little less scary. I am looking forward in hearing your life story and creating a space where you feel safe enough to be vulnerable and open to share.

Life is full of ups and downs. In the end it is the journey that matters most and that teaches us the most. Psychotherapy offer an individual the opportunity to collaborate with a therapist to overcome any obstacles that are hindering their progress or growth. The process of therapy addresses emotional, relational, cognitive and occupational concerns. I collaborate with the client and personalise an approach most beneficial to the client. To me psychotherapy is a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space in which to explore and better understand yourself, your relationships, and the challenges or difficulties that you face.

What is the best therapy for addiction?

Addiction treatment will be tailored to the individual. People seeking help for addiction—whether with a psychotherapist, in an outpatient clinic, or in a residential program—should expect to engage in multiple types of treatments, sometimes including medication. For anyone recovering from addiction, avoiding situations in which one has typically used a substance is essential, as is the support of close connections. Since substance use disorders tend to co-occur with underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, those must also be addressed as part of any recovery plan.

How long does therapy for addiction take?

There is no set timeline for recovery from addiction. Patients and their families should expect the work to last several months, if not longer. Residential treatment programs may be based on a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days, with continuing work after release, but only about 1 percent of people are treated in such facilities. Ceasing use is just the first step; therapy to help maintain abstinence and effect behavior change must follow. The process of recovery, neuroscience has shown, involves brain cells recovering the capacity to respond to natural sources of reward and restore control over the impulse to use. Another definition of recovery is restoring voluntary control over one’s substance use and retaking all of one’s previous responsibilities.

How effective is drug addiction treatment?

Substance use disorders are treatable and remission is achievable for many who seek recovery; by some estimates, more than three-quarters of people who become addicted to alcohol or drugs recover. But that success rarely occurs quickly or on a set timeline; relapse is not only common, but many therapists and clinicians view it as a normal part of the process—not always a sign that a person has returned to addiction, but a signal that their treatment should be adjusted to help them regain control. Overall, research suggests, five years after the end of substance use, one’s risk of relapse is no greater than that of others who had not faced addiction. Other experts believe that complete abstinence is not the only measure of recovery, and that, through effective treatment, many people can learn to control their use.

How can you get addiction treatment for someone?

The most important factor in recovery from addiction is widely understood to be an individual’s commitment to change. For that reason,“interventions” in which friends and family gather to urge or force someone to begin immediate treatment often backfire; even when such efforts do lead someone to begin treatment, they may be less likely to stay than those who are self-driven. Still, family members can play an important role in supporting an individual who seeks help and can take part in family therapy as one element of a loved one’s treatment.
