Often, how we navigate our traumas is informed by our relationships with our primary attachment figures. So, while I have found that "here and now" work is useful, my experience has taught me that there is no point in resolving what is on the surface if we have never attempted to deal with the root of the problem. I therefore pride myself in taking time to thoroughly understand people, so that we can work towards a more long-term form of healing.

What has happened? Often when the initial shock wears off we will say, "I am okay now". Thus we underestimate the impact of the frequent traumas and stressors in our lives. Over time these pockets of tears, fears and pain affect our relationships, leaving us in feeling more alone. I am a Clinical Psychologist with a medical and stress related background. My integrated therapeutic focus is on interpersonal relationships and the emotions that can affect them. I work with individuals, couples and/or with the parents of children who are having difficulties.

As a psychologist I am constantly amazed by peoples’ resilience and capacity to overcome tremendous hardship. I feel privileged when clients confide and share that which is deeply painful. It is an honour to embark on a therapeutic journey with with my clients. I have also developed a keen understanding of the level of investment that is required in order to manage overwhelming feelings in productive ways. I prioritise creating a non-judgemental thinking space in the hope that it will enable clients to find themselves and attempt to establish meaning amidst uncertainty.

I am a registered counselling psychologist who believes wholeheartedly in the power of psychology and the potential for healing that a safe, non-judgemental therapy relationship can create. I am also aware that starting therapy can feel very scary and so I aim to create a space where your voice can be heard in a meaningful way in a manner that you are comfortable with.

The decision to start therapy is a brave and equally vulnerable one. Perhaps you have had losses of different kinds, started feeling different from your usual self, or experience an urge to know and understand yourself better. Therapy is a space that can be helpful in navigating these experiences, learning new ways of being, and overcoming life hurdles. Together with what the client aims to achieve, the goal of therapy is to fundamentally work on how the individual relates to themselves and the world around them. In therapy we also facilitate the pursuit of the client’s desired quality of life.

I am a Counselling Psychologist situated in the northern suburbs of Johannesburg, in close proximity to the areas of Rosebank and Sandton. I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families addressing current challenges with a Solution Focused approach. These challenges may include some more common complaints such as depression and anxiety, or those trying to come to terms with a trauma or bereavement. My approach is focused and therefore short-term in nature. As such long term time commitments is uncommon. I hope this can help people achieve significant change whilst offering them a more cost effective therapeutic approach.

Being human means facing a life with painful moments. Whether you’re searching for a way through the pain, are learning to live with a mental illness, or are trying to make sense of your existence, we can walk the road together.

I hold a special place in my heart for providing my clients with a safe and sacred space to explore and embrace their true selves. My hope is to provide my clients with the respect, honour and non-judgmental space through which they can feel safe and work towards their best selves. I recognize that relationships and personal challenges can seem daunting, however entering into counselling could be the beginning of gaining insight into your heart, others around you and the difficulties you may face. My hope is to empower my clients on their quest to personal growth and living a fulfilling life.

Life can get away with us and may make it difficult to keep in touch with yourself (whoever that is, whatever that looks like) and that is why I value the concept of taking care of yourself/myself, be it spiritually (religion, nature, art, etc), physically (picnicking, hiking or gym), mentally (reading and doing puzzles) and emotionally (talking, drawing, music, etc). We live in a high pressured, and at times critical society which can make it difficult to navigate even the most "mundane" tasks. I believe that having a safe, non-judgmental space in which to explore various issues is necessary in tension release & self-discovery.

I have been a therapist for 29yrs and have been privileged to share many patients stories of sadness, loneliness, anxiety fear and tragedy. I have witnessed courage, perseverance and the untangling of the recent past and the deeper past in order to live more healthily with themselves and in relationship to others. I believe the quality of the relationship between myself and my patients creates a safe space in which to explore both the conscious and unconscious factors that lead to the breakdown or impediments to the above relationships.

I am passionate about supporting people with anything they bring to the session. I offer a safe space and I listen. I want to work with my clients to safely explore their thoughts and feelings. Together, we can uncover roadblocks and find new ways to deal with stress and conflict. Explore possibilities and rediscover motivation. Learn how to be more compassionate with yourself. I believe everyone has the potential to thrive, and I would like to help my clients find their unique path.

I love working with young Educational Psychologists in developing their skills through supervision and various workshops. I also have a passion for working with teenagers and young adults. Much of my work focuses on Career Guidance and Development, where I combine an exciting range of qualitative techniques with the more traditional psychometric approach. This allows me to assist individuals in gaining insight into their personal journeys and motivations as they make career decisions, thereby enriching their self-knowledge. I conduct Psycho-Educational assessments for IEB and GDE Accommodation purposes, and for diagnostic purposes.
