I am a clinical psychologist by profession. During our time together, my role will entail providing a holding, supportive, non-judgement and unconditional acceptance to help you navigate and understand what is that makes you mentally and emotionally unwell. I am curious about your story. Do you need help processing a trauma or loss, perhaps you're currently dealing with various stressors or relational problems. Are you experiencing a low mood, have a pessimistic outlook on life, diminished interest in activities or low self-worth. Could it be constant worry, insomnia, panic attacks? Whatever it is, let's unpack!

Life is a marvellous journey but here and there we will experience flat tyres or run out of fuel. It is purpose for me as a counsellor to give you a lift to the next filling station or borrow a wheel spanner for you to change the tyre. In my helping journey I meet individuals, couples, family and groups. No matter is taboo, too big or too small. With your permission we elevate to experts within our network who would benefit you more if deemed necessary. We care. The journey may involve you alone, your partner or the family. You are welcome to contact me for us to keep the journey going.

Therapy is not a 'magic pill' or a quick fix,but rather a healing process. Each person has an inherent potential to self-actualize while being encouraged for deeper self-understanding and to adapt new attitudes and feelings towards life situations. Therapy is an effective tool to assist you in navigating through life and living your best. " We repeat what we do not repair".I have precise constellation of skills and practice methodologies in conducting (individual, couple, groups, families) therapy and working with organisations for trauma defusing and debriefing.

Trust the process of healing: a Person’s life experiences directly impact on their overall wellbeing. When we experience trauma or severe life stressors, it is not uncommon for our lives to unravel. Often underlying emotional problems need to be addressed before a lasting improvement in a person's quality of life can take place. Christel completed her internship at 1 Military Hospital where she was exposed to various aspects of psychodynamic imbalances and trauma-spectrum manifestations within a diverse demographic and cultural client base.

Female Counsellors
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
