I work with adults on a variety of issues. In addition to individual and couples therapy, I carry out psychological assessments for clinical and legal purposes. If you are looking for a gentle, grandmother-type of therapist - that is me. Your therapeutic goals will largely be your own and you will lead the way. As we go along together, I will assist you to explore and make use of helpful techniques. In a career that began in the late 1980's I have worked with South Africans in both the private and the government sectors and so I have experience with people from all walks of life and cultures.
In addition to couples therapy, my skills encompass working with individuals who are suffering from mood and anxiety disorders; personality issues and chronic illnesses. I offer supportive therapy as well as assistance with stress-management to those in situations that cannot be easily changed.
If you are feeling alone and helpless in the war that is life at times - it may be important to see a therapist who will act as an adjutant - helping you to identify resources, your weapons, useful defenses and saboteurs. One can lose battles in life, but this does not mean that one has lost the war. Emotional survival can be tough. Therapy can help.
