Jonas Everaert Ph.D.

About

Jonas Everaert, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of clinical psychology at Tilburg University and a senior research fellow at KU Leuven. He received his PhD in 2015 from Ghent University. Before joining Tilburg University and KU Leuven, he completed postdoctoral fellowships at Ghent and Yale University. He aims to understand how people make sense of ambiguous social situations and what happens if this goes awry. Jonas' research adopts an interdisciplinary approach to uncover the nature, causes, and effects of biased interpretations and inflexible belief revision. His goal is to translate this knowledge to develop transdiagnostic and transtherapeutic models of psychopathology. In his work, Jonas combines diverse methods and statistical techniques to capture toxic features of interpretation processes in the lab and in real life. Jonas is a consulting editor at Journal of Abnormal Psychology and associate editor at Journal of Experimental Psychopathology. In 2021, Jonas received the Rising Star Award from the Association of Psychological Science.
