Jeffrey Lieberman, M.D., is the Constance and Stephen Lieber Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, and the president of the Arete Institute for health, well-being, and human potential.

Lieberman has authored more than 500 articles published in the scientific literature and written and or edited ten books on mental illness and psychiatry. Formerly the President of the American Psychiatric Association, in 2000 he was elected to the National Academy of Sciences Institute of Medicine. He is a past President of the American Psychiatric Association and the author of books including Shrinks: The Untold Story of Psychiatry and Malady of the Mind.
