Cortney Warren, Ph.D., ABPP, is a board-certified clinical psychologist and former tenured associate professor of psychology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). She earned her bachelor’s degree from Macalester College in 2000 and her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Texas A&M University in 2006 after completing her clinical internship at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School. Warren is an expert on addictions, self-deception, eating pathology, and the practice of psychotherapy from a cross-cultural perspective and has authored almost 50 peer-reviewed journal articles, seven book chapters, and two books.

Warren is passionate about bringing theoretically grounded, empirically-supported psychological research to the general public. In her TEDx talk Honest Liars, and the associated book, Lies We Tell Ourselves: The Psychology of Self-Deception, she Warren describes her view that self-deception is our biggest obstacle to life fulfillment.
