Adam Omary

Adam Omary, M.S., is a Cognitive Psychology Ph.D. Student at Harvard University, where he works in the Affective Neuroscience & Development Laboratory under the mentorship of Leah Somerville. His research focuses on how social, environmental, and hormonal influences shape adolescent brain development, emotion processing, and social cognition. Omary earned a B.A. in Cognitive Science and an M.S. in Biostatistics from the University of Southern California, where he worked as a research assistant in David Schwartz’s Social Development Laboratory and Megan Herting’s Neuroimaging Laboratory. With Schwartz, he studied how peer groups and social media influence adolescent psychopathology, victimization, and well-being. With Herting, he researched how neighborhood disadvantage influences adolescent brain development, and how hormones influence emotion perception. Omary also hosts the Nature & Nurture Podcast, where he interviews scientists, authors, and bright minds from a wide array of backgrounds.
