Advice: Why Can't He Get a Date?

Advice Q&A with PT editor at large Hara Estroff Marano: Why
can't this man get a date?

I am a 50-year-old male, semi-retired and financially secure.
People say I look like a 40-year-old and have the body of a
25-year-old, as I really do take care of myself. I am a bit of a
romantic and have been told I am good-looking. So why can't I
find a date?

It takes more than a body and a bank balance to interest most women
nowadays. Contemporary women (and men) want a genuine
relationship;someone with whom to share the burdens and joys of
life, a true soul mate. While abs and assets are nice, interests and
values matter, too. They're the means by which people
connect.

Perhaps you are strutting around so pleased with your pecs and your
checks that you are giving off the unmistakable vibe of self-absorption,
while women are seeking to make contact with a man of sensitivity,
intelligence, wit and kindness;no signs of which you
display.

And exactly where are you looking? Perhaps you should check out
online dating sites. Most enable you to post a profile describing
yourself, which gives someone more than a skin-deep glimpse of
you.
