Residential Treatment
At Youth Care Treatment Center in Draper, Utah, we provide clinically excellent residential treatment for adolescents ages 11-18 who are suffering from mental health conditions and substance use concerns. We serve young people who have anxiety, depression, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), reactive attachment disorder (RAD), oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Students can enter this level of care directly, and each person receives a customized treatment plan to guide their time with us. We understand the unique developmental needs of children and teens, and our age-appropriate programming is designed to help adolescents build a strong foundation for healing. Each student’s length of stay in our residential program depends on their response to treatment, cooperation, and overall goals. However, most students remain in our residential program for four to five months. Treatment Approach
At Youth Care, we utilize a behavior modification approach to treatment. Points are awarded for school performance, positive attitudes, and compliance with the rules of the program. We believe that positive and immediate reinforcement helps students correct poor behaviors and pursue positive interactions with their peers. Students are held to a high academic standard at Youth Care, and our teachers and counselors frequently reevaluate each adolescent's progress and adjust their care plan accordingly. A typical day for a student in our residential treatment program may include chores, morning goals groups, structured classroom time, group therapies, and free time to engage in activities and recreation. Every student is enrolled in our on-campus educational program. The curriculum is fully accredited by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges and taught by qualified, licensed teachers. At Youth Care Treatment Center, we believe that young people are more likely to have a successful experience if they receive treatment in a warm and homelike environment. Our campus in Draper, Utah, includes four separate coed homes and a large outdoor area for recreation. We have a basketball and volleyball court, fire pits, a spacious outdoor pavilion, and a basketball gym. We believe in the importance of mutual respect and treating others how you would want to be treated. During their time at our treatment center, youths can learn the value of performing chores, showing respect for others, and building relationships with their peers. In therapy, students can learn how to set and achieve goals. Our staff of caring professionals strives to provide life-changing support that encourages youths to make positive lifestyle changes. After a student completes residential treatment, our team of therapists, teachers, and psychiatrists works with the student and their family to develop a comprehensive discharge plan. This might include transitioning to our partial hospitalization program (PHP) or attending traditional outpatient therapy.
