Clients include a spectrum of mental health concerns – depression, anxiety, substance use, sexual health in recovery, psychiatric medication management, trauma, interpersonal violence, adjustment to medical problems, and others. Our primary client base is made up of members of the LGBTQ+ community but others are welcome. Many of our clients have met with stigma and discrimination when they have sought help from other providers. Many of our clients are members of the LGBTQ+ community and have faced many difficulties in “coming out” to family, friends, and important others. Areas of focus:
Many of our clients are members of the LGBTQ+ community and have faced many difficulties in “coming out” to family, friends, and important others. We work with: • clients to help them better understand who they are and resolve lingering feelings of depression or anxiety about themselves; • people living with HIV to help them improve their quality of life and mental health while aggressively pursuing medical treatments; • people whose substance use and sexual health are intertwined and want to examine a healthier way to experience sex in recovery; • clients who have experienced interpersonal violence at home, sexual assault, human trafficking, hate crime, or other ways of being victimized by helping them process the trauma they have experienced and offering housing assistance when appropriate; • seniors who are experiencing phase of life issues; • youth who are examining their gender; and • Veterans by providing low-cost/no-cost counseling through state-funded grants. What we can do for a client:
We provide treatment that is trauma-informed and follows evidence-based treatments like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in a welcoming environment that acknowledges and honors the experience of all our clients. We ensure that our clients receive treatment that is culturally sensitive to their sexual orientation, gender identity, racial and ethnic background, and other demographic characteristics. Our large and experienced staff of psychologists, social workers, and professional counselors have broad experience in treating depression, anxiety, trauma, and other mental health concerns. Our trauma specialists are trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy, and other techniques. We offer couples counseling using either the Gottman method or Emotionally Focused Therapy. We have a large substance use disorder treatment program offering an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), Relapse Prevention Group, and peer recovery coaching. We also have a new program that addresses sexual health while clients are in recovery, including defining sexual boundaries, consent, body image, and balancing pleasure and safety.
