Who We Are
Newport Academy is a different kind of teen outpatient treatment center. Our philosophy of care is grounded in addressing the root causes of destructive behaviors—the trauma, depression, anxiety, abandonment wounds, and lack of self-esteem that catalyze co-occurring disorders. Our integrated approach guides teens and their families to achieve long-term, sustainable healing from mental health conditions as well as substance abuse, eating disorders, self-harm, and other maladaptive behaviors. Based in clinical expertise and compassionate care, our whole-person treatment model takes into account the physical, psychological, social, educational, and spiritual needs of adolescents. We support young people ages 12 and up in building authentic connection with self; restoring harmony in the family system; and developing supportive relationships with peers. Our team includes psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, nurse practitioners, counselors, equine therapists, art therapists, music therapists, adventure therapists, registered dietitians, nutritionists, teachers, and more, with a wide range of degrees and experience. At Newport Academy, academic and life skills education is an integral part of the treatment experience. Our licensed and highly trained teachers and tutors work closely with students, parents, and their current school to create a customized academic plan informed by a combination of psychoeducational test results, current transcripts, and state curriculum standards. Clients earn credits and improve their study skills and motivation, sometimes for the first time, while receiving the comprehensive treatment they need to heal. Our strengths-based approach to education recognizes that learning, like every other aspect of a young person’s experience, is inextricably intertwined with their self-esteem, well-being, and sense of empowerment. As teens progress in treatment, we see their academic engagement and motivation improve along with their mental health measures. Our goal is to ensure that our clients are set up for success when they return to their home school, with the tools they need to thrive in the academic environment. Insurance/In-Network Provider
Insurance covers up to 100 percent of the treatment and therapeutic modalities that Newport Academy offers. We accept all major insurance providers and work collaboratively with payers to optimize coverage for families. Many adolescents who receive treatment from Newport Academy using insurance coverage do so through a Single Case Agreement, a special contract through which out-of-network providers can work with a family’s insurance company on an In-Network basis. Newport Academy maintains a full-time, in-house team dedicated to supporting families through the mental health insurance coverage and financing process. In order to secure sufficient insurance coverage, we will most likely need to conduct a series of clinical reviews and any requested doctor-to-doctor calls with the insurance company. While other facilities may charge for this service, we feel it is our responsibility to assist families with what can be a complex process. Our goal is to ensure that families receive the maximum coverage, so they can access the highest-quality treatment.
