The Hopewell Health IOP for Adolescents program is an Intensive Outpatient Program three hour program (5pm-8pm) four days a week (Monday- Thursday) for adolescents aged 12 to 18 and their families. The IOP format allows the adolescent to live at home and attend their current school while engaging in structured therapeutic activities and services. We work with all adolescents struggling with difficult behaviors such as self-injury, behavioral issues, and suicidal ideation as well as significant mood and anxiety disorders. Because every adolescent is unique, we develop an individualized treatment plan designed to meet the precise needs of each patient and family. While DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) is the core of Hopewell Health IOP, we incorporate a number of other treatment modalities, such as integration of the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, coaching, yoga, music, and art therapies, and hands-on experiential activities.
Hopewell Health Solutions has been in business for 12 years and we currently have four locations throughout Hartford County. We created this IOP in response to our adolescent patients increasing significant emotional distress and the lack of resources to help them. Our goal at Hopewell Health IOP is to keep adolescents at home and in school ,and in treatment for their issues with wrap-around support for the family. Hopewell Health IOP is very different than other IOPs in the state. The IOP is housed in one of our mental health outpatient facilities which also provides outpatient counseling and psychiatric med management. In this respect, once patients are discharged from the program they will have the option to go directly into Hopewell outpatient services for counseling and med management to prevent relapse. Another differentiator of our IOP program is that we will be involving parents and the treatment process. We believe that if we can make the family dynamic better then the symptoms will decrease and we will build support for the patient.
The basis of IOP program will be a empirically-validated DBT methods in addition to CBT, mindfulness, behavioral therapy, art therapy, and other modes to support treatment. We also have a diversity of staff. We have both men and women on our staff and we have people of different races and ethnicities on our staff. This will help with being able to treat a wide range of people and difficulties. These services are designed to: (A) promote mental health and improve functioning in children, youth and families; and (B) effectively decrease the prevalence and incidence of mental illness, emotional disturbance and social dysfunctioning. Responsibility for diagnostic and treatment services is vested in a multi-disciplinary team comprised of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, marriage and family therapists and other mental health professionals. Supervision of clinical services may be provided by a psychiatrist, psychologist, social worker, or marriage and family therapist with appropriate child experience and state licensing. Services shall include but not be limited to diagnostic evaluation, psychological testing, family, group, individual therapies and medication services.
