Benefits of Medication-Assisted Treatment
Gifford Street Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC), located in New Bedford, Massachusetts, offers medication-assisted treatment, or MAT, for adults who are suffering from opioid addictions. MAT combines medication and counseling and has been closely studied in the United States for decades. The FDA-approved prescription medications used in MAT can reduce opioid cravings and withdrawal symptoms, helping people stop opioid use more easily. In addition to receiving medication, patients who take part in MAT at our Comprehensive Treatment Center participate in individual and group therapy to learn how to better respond to triggers that might threaten their commitment to recovery and to meet with others who may understand what they’re going through. MAT is a comprehensive approach to opioid addiction treatment because it addresses the physical, emotional, and psychological factors of addiction. What To Expect
At Gifford Street CTC, we understand that change can be hard, even when you know that it will improve your life. We strive to create a welcoming and compassionate environment that provides the support you might need during the recovery process. When you first come to our opioid addiction treatment center, you will complete an assessment so that we can understand your background, medical history, and goals. This assessment can help our expert staff determine the appropriate medication for you. While some methadone clinics only offer one type of medication, at our CTC, we can prescribe methadone or Suboxone, depending on your needs. These medications can alleviate painful opioid withdrawal symptoms and reduce opioid cravings. We will also go over your therapy schedule at admission. Those who receive MAT at our opioid addiction treatment center participate in individual and group counseling led by experienced professionals. The combination of medication services and therapy allows us to provide comprehensive treatment that can address the multiple aspects of opioid addiction. Our Comprehensive Treatment Center
