About Cedar Crest
Cedar Crest Hospital and Residential Treatment Center is located on 30 acres in the beautiful rolling hills of Central Texas. At Cedar Crest we provide innovate behavioral health and substance abuse treatment for children, adolescents, adults, senior adults, and military personnel. Our private campus includes walking trails, picnic areas, a low elements ropes course, outdoor swimming pool, full size gym, and state-of the art exercise equipment; providing opportunities for leisure, therapeutic recreation, and team building skills. For individuals who are struggling with depression Cedar Crest provides a full continuum of care including inpatient, outpatient, longer-term residential, and partial hospitalization treatment. For over 25 years, Cedar Crest has successfully served our community treating substance abuse and mental health issues, such as depression, with treatment plan tailed to each clients personalized needs. We continually strive to be a leader in behavioral healthcare and guiding light for our community.
Symptoms of Depression
Depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent pattern feeling of sadness and loss of interest. People who struggle with depression experience a multitude of symptoms that disrupt their ability to eat, sleep, go to school, and function in daily life in a normal manner. This debilitating mental illness impacts every area of a person's life and, if left untreated, usually only gets worse. While the signs and symptoms of depression will vary from person to person some of the most common ones include feelings of emptiness or unhappiness, experiencing angry outbursts, and loss of interest in activities that were once enjoyed. Additionally, those who are depressed may experience excessive worrying or panic, have slowed thinking and body movements, and develop a number of unexplained physical problems. For some individuals, their depression symptoms are so severe that it is quite clear that something is defiantly wrong. However, others may just generally feel miserable or unhappy without really knowing why. Additionally, some people may experience more behavioral symptoms while others may exhibit more emotional symptoms. Fortunately, with proper therapies, medication, and self-care techniques, most people with depression are able to go on to lead normal lives.
Treatment for Depression
At Cedar Crest we use a combination of medication and psychotherapy because we find it to be very effective for many of our patients. The treatment process begins with a complete assessment conducted by one of our fully qualified intake specialists, who collected as much information as they can about your current condition. This will help your treatment team get a better understanding of the severity of your depression as well as the presence of any co-occurring disorders that may also be causing you difficulty. When you are admitted to our program, our compassionate, caring multidisciplinary team of nurses, doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists, and therapists will take immediate action to stabilize you and begin to create an individualized plan of care for your stay with us. The medical staff at Cedar Crest Hospital promotes a safe, stable environment for our clients in order to help them to develop greater insights into their challenges. Through a combination of individual therapy, medication management, group sessions, family therapy, and variety of experiential programs Cedar Crest Hospital can help you reach your maximum potential and emerge from our program a happy and healthy person.
