I believe that therapy needs to be personalized to the individual and the goals that you have for yourself. Therapy is also a partnership between the therapist and the client. I often compare my view of therapy to a GPS; with you in the driver's seat, you select the destination you'd like to reach, and I'll help figure out a way to get us there. Empathy and therapeutic rapport are a foundation in my approach to practice; I have a genuine interest and investment in the lives of those that I work with, having compassion in all our interactions, while at the same time, also challenging you to work towards growth.
I employ techniques of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), as well as others to customize my practice to your symptoms. I am also cross-trained in substance use counseling for those who struggle with substances and addictions.
