I specialize in helping couples understand and improve their distressed relationships. Distressed relationships are characterized by recurrent negative patterns of interaction and conflict that create emotional distance, misunderstanding, frustration and pain. Partners are often left feeling alone, isolated and hopeless as a result of these negative interactional patterns. Many distressed couples do not feel secure, protected or cared for in their relationships when these negative patterns take over. I am a clinical psychologist certified in Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT). (www.iceeft.ca). I work collaboratively with distressed couple to explore and identify the negative patterns that create emotional distress, isolation and pain in the relationship. I help couples create positive patterns of interaction that promote emotional closeness and relationship security.
I have many years experience working with individuals and couples. I spent the first 18 years of my career at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine treating couples with sexual and relational difficulties. I established my private practice of psychology in 2005. My practice is dedicated to the provision of Emotionally Focused Therapy.
