I don't believe that the ideal client exists. Therapy is for everyone. I practice from a Health at Every Size (HAES) perspective, and would love to work with larger-bodied clients on building and growing self-compassion, and self-esteem, working toward an attitude of fat liberation, and reinforcing the knowledge that all bodies are deserving of love and respect.
I believe that everyone deserves to feel comfortable and at-home in their own body, and that everybody (and every "body") deserves to be loved. I like working with the ideas behind narrative and Adlerian therapies, although I am always exploring to find new ways to help clients.
Therapy is for everyone. Everyone deserves a space to lay down their burdens, where they can speak freely, and where they will be met with kindness, empathy and warmth. We all have the ability to be the hero of our own story, and to rewrite our narratives in ways that highlight our strengths. We all shine, even if we need a bit of polish to see it.
