I am a female who has experienced generational trauma and I have found skills and tools that work for me to overcome consistent obstacles presented throughout the lifespan. I believe that everyone deserves to discover their own special skills and tools to overcome trauma. Healing is individual. No one else is you. I believe that you deserve happiness and a life with less pain and hurt. Trauma is not linear, it tends to repeat itself through our lives and through generations. We will stop repeating the same traumas when we create a new path and pattern through persistent practice and change. If you are ready to change, come see me.

Do you wish you could feel safer in your body, safer to express yourself and have better relationships with more connection and intimacy? Do you feel like you’ve analyzed yourself a lot and tried therapy in the past but you still feel stuck in the same emotional patterns? If so, we might be a very good fit to get some work done together and help you create real shifts in what it feels like to be you.

As a therapist, I strive to "hold space" with clients. Holding space for another person is incredibly profound bringing your entire presence to them. You walk along with them without judgment, willing to end up wherever they need to go by giving the energy of our attention to the pain and struggle of another human being. As a ally to a variety of communities, I make it a priority to learn about the complexities and intersections of a persons identity; to honor each person's journey and recognize the privileges I have in sharing such a vulnerable space.

I work with adult women who are engaged in self-discovery and personal growth. They often face challenges such as anxiety, depression, or trauma and are seeking understanding and healing. Many have had difficulty finding safety in which to explore their emotions, past experiences, and core beliefs. They want to cultivate self-awareness, develop coping strategies, and increase their resilience. They often hope to break free from destructive patterns, improve relationships, and create a life in which they may find pleasure. Ultimately, they seek to live authentically and experience profound meaning and purpose.

Life is not fair. Many of us have learned this in very difficult or traumatic ways. Many of us bear the wounds and scars of broken marriages, families, or abuse; feel overwhelmed and alone; believe we are unloved or rejected; have thoughts we can not control; or can not seem to stop behaviors we know hurt us and those we love. We also know deep down this is not how it is supposed to be. Life is meant to be lived with abundant joy, peace, deep and fulfilling relationships, and acceptance and celebration of who we were created to be. Those who seek help through therapy are the most courageous people I know.

Have you ever felt hopeless, anxious, or worried? Have you tried to get help and found it did not work? Then I am the therapist for you! I have years of experience. I especially enjoy helping families resolve conflict by figuring out what leads to it and working together. I am capable to do so, sometimes in as few as a couple sessions. I love working with young children. I have successfully used EMDR for stress and anxiety about health procedures.

I love working with kids ages 6 months to 12 years old and their families. I have participated in a state sponsored 2 year program to learn to assess and treat children from birth to 5 years old. I also co created and facilitated a therapeutic playgroup that included parents and children ages 3-5 years . The group was created to help children and parents build relationship through play and also provide parents with resources on how to manage tantrums or other behavioral concerns. I used play therapy techniques to assist children in processing their thoughts and feelings.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
