I believe in our kids. I believe if they are given the opportunity to learn and express their emotions in healthy ways, as well as learn effective coping skills, they can thrive. I work with adults and adolescents using an integrative framework in order to meet your individual needs. As long as you are motivated to make positive changes in your life, I'm here to help you through it. While, I am able to help you through a variety of difficulties, there are 3 primary groups that I specialize in working with. First, I enjoy working with members of the LGBTQ+ community, particularly around support with identity exploration or gender affirming care. I know the importance of having someone knowledgeable about some of the specific issues that this community faces and am available to talk about any difficulties.

Growing up in a small, midwestern town, I came to realize that we don't get nearly enough information on how to properly engage with one another in our relationships in healthy and fulfilling ways. As a queer and trans person, the lack of information was exponentially worse. As a therapist, I want to be there for people who recognize this and want to have better relationships with others and with themselves. I also want to be there especially for my fellow queer and transgender people given how lonely I felt thinking that there were no therapists like me. While I didn't get that, I want to BE that for others.

As a queer, white, cis woman and therapist, my intention is to create a therapeutic environment that is rooted in cultural humility and safety. My philosophy surrounding therapy is that it is your space, your time, and you are the expert of your unique experiences. In other words, you will dictate the content and direction of our sessions. I am dedicated to meeting you where you are in your journey and providing a non-judgmental space where you are free to explore and process thoughts, feelings, and work toward your goals.

Often times throughout life we find ourselves feeling disconnected. This can leave us feeling anxious, depressed, untethered and lost without any sense of direction. My goal as a therapist is to support my clients as they navigate and discover the path to their most authentic self. I strive to provide a safe space where clients feel comfortable in exploring their past, rewriting personal narratives, and forging an understanding of self that enables living presently. Together we'll discover your strengths, while exploring areas that crave nurturing and healing.

I believe therapy is a collaborative process in which we will work together to determine your goals and then achieve them. Because I work both cognitive-behaviorally and psychodynamically, I am able to work with you on two different, but both very important levels depending on your goals. On one level, I can help you simply feel better and improve your coping skills. And on another level, and to the extent to which you are interested in doing so, I can help you understand the deeper roots of your symptoms and life patterns.

Many, including those with neurodivergence, feel misunderstood by others, and even puzzled about themselves. I love offering assistance and encouragement to such people. I believe all human beings are created by God in His image, and therefore, have potential for positive purpose in this life, and are to be respected.

What are your hopes and dreams? What makes you happy, and what’s getting in the way? Many of us spend a lot of time thinking and worrying about these questions, when talking about them is where the magic happens. If you’re working on changing your drinking or drug use, coping with nightmares and challenging memories, building a sense of safety and trust, addressing self-esteem issues, improving your mood, and managing anxiety, then getting the right help makes all the difference.
