In 30 years as a therapist I have worked with individuals as young as 12 and as old as 85; with families and couples of every background and socio economic group. I have worked with patients dealing with a range of problems from the profoundly tragic to the mundane. I have learned that regardless of life's circumstances everyone has the capacity and resources within themselves to live life more fully. As a therapist, I rely on whatever professional knowledge and expertise I possess, as well as any wisdom that I may have gained in my own personal journey through life.
Whether we seek therapy because of a tragic event or because of loneliness, anxiety, depression, self-defeating behavior, unhealthy relationships, chronic anger or just because we feel lost or confused, the key to recovery will untimately rest upon the rediscovery of the best part of ourselves.
I believe that shame, guilt and self-judgment are the primary sources of psychological dysfunction. My goal, as a therapist, is to help patients free themselves of these burdens so they can pursue the joys of life more fully.
