I often work with profound unrecognized and misdiagnosed trauma, critical incidents & shame. The benefit about having various "tools" in my arsenal means we don't need to verbally go "into the muck" which can be re-traumatizing and contraindicated.

I believe that happiness and recovery are possible! Anxiety, depression, PTSD, partner conflict and family issues can make life hard and can make people feel stuck. I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families to change their lives to have more fulfillment and contentment. I want my clients to not just survive but to thrive. Most of the folks I work with have been dealing with issues for a long time and either starting to want to change or see that they need a change to happen to be where and who they want to be! Nothing is too big or too small to be handled together – trauma, abuse, toxic relationships, harmful coping skills, conflicts at work, self-doubt/growth, and personality disorders. My job is to help you explore where these issues are coming from, what has worked in the past, and what will help you become a new “whole” person in the future.

I have provided clinical services in a number of settings including college/university counseling centers, community mental health clinics, and in private practice. My own research and scholarly interests focus on LGBTQ issues, clinical supervision, supporting underrepresented college students, and current issues in training mental health clinicians. I am a generalist by training and work with clients with a variety of presenting concerns. I enjoy developing relationships with my clients in longer term therapy but often work within briefer treatments as well. I am flexible in my approach to help my clients achieve their goals.
