The clients I work with are coping with not only addiction issues, but are having problems with depression, anxiety, trauma, impulse control problems, anger, and much more. I take a holistic approach to treatment, meaning that in treatment, we focus on the whole person - physical, social, emotional and mental. Addiction and mental health recovery is an active process, and I understand the process. If you are seeking a life of peace and happiness; of successes and reaching goals, I will be your guide.

I have many years experience in trauma therapy.
If life is a struggle and you feel like it is getting harder for you to do things you used to enjoy, I would love to help you get where you want to be. You deserve to be happy and live the life you are meant to live. Sometimes we may need someone to help us travel our path through life and walk with us. If you are anxious, depressed or wondering how you will ever get through your emotional storm, call me and I will ride the wave with you. You are worth the best I can give. The purpose of my life is to help you find meaning and purpose in yours. Your life is your story. Write well. Edit often.

While my specialties are trauma, depression, and anxiety, I am trained and experienced in many treatment theories and modalities.
Getting help can be one of the hardest steps to take. Shame, guilt, feeling trapped in life; it can be so overwhelming. Not to mention the anxiety of meeting a therapist for the first time. I am here to listen, to serve as a guide, and to help if you want me to help. The cliché is the axiom, “You’re stronger than you think;” the truth is you absolutely are, and you matter. I am here to help you along the way.

I enjoy helping people identify what they desire from their life and relationships. It can be difficult to understand what we actually want which often leads to stress and other anxious/ depressive symptoms. When stress goes on too long, it's easy to lose motivation and fall into unhelpful thinking/lifestyle habits and patterns that don't match your deeper values. Through talking together, I feel confident we will come to better understand and manage the stress and challenges you're experiencing, as well as identify what might be preventing you from moving closer toward what you hope for.

Does taking a break mean locking yourself in the house after a long day/week just to binge-watch Netflix, Hulu, YouTube or scroll Facebook, Instagram or TikTok? Do social situations leave you feeling “on-guard” or “out of place”? Feeling disconnected from friends, family, co-workers or even yourself? Pain (emotional, physical or psychological) is the one constant you count on each and every day. Your past continues to trigger sadness or anger, or you may not remember it at all. We help answer the questions "Where do I want to go in life?" - "Who do I want to go there with?"

In today’s world, we’re taught the answers to our problems are found in titles, marriages, appearance, material objects, outward success, & money. No matter the ailment, there’s something to chase that’ll make you whole. Modern notions of happiness confine us because, deep down, we know the satisfaction eventually fades. As we become disillusioned to achievement, consumerism, & the newest health fads, we begin to long for something real. The disparity between our deeper needs & the contemporary recipe for fulfillment leaves us feeling empty.

Currently, I specialize in anxiety, depression and relationships, but I also have training/experience with career, grief, divorce/separation and stress management.
My approach is both collaborative and engaging working 'with' you and not just silently observing. Having worked with a wide range of clients from diverse backgrounds, I've learned to customize my approach to best meet 'your' needs and not force you to fit a predetermined modality.

Therapy provides us the opportunity for greater self-discovery and deepened self-understanding. The person I enjoy working with is someone who is genuinely curious about what makes them tick, why they make choices that sink their dreams or sabotage the relationships important to them; but who are also wanting to know their strengths and talents so they can embrace and use them more effectively.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
