I am a person-centered clinician, and I draw from feminist theory, acknowledging and committed to challenging systems that negatively impact mental/emotional well-being.
Asking for help is hard, and it’s when we feel heard, seen, and understood, that healing and growth are most accessible. I am here to hold space for you, or you and your partner(s), to explore and challenge yourself in pursuit of greater truth and authenticity. By addressing troubling thoughts and feelings, self-sabotaging behaviors, and traumas, life can be made more manageable, productive, and fulfilling. Feelings such as grief, shame, anxiety, sadness, and anger often signal that something needs to change. Listening to and working through these feelings can propel you forward. Allow me to help.

Although I specialize in women's issues and utilize a Feminist lens when working with individuals, I have experience in working with couples and men.
I recognize finding a therapist can be challenging and overwhelming. I hope my profile gives you a sense of who I am as a professional and if I may be a good fit for you. I believe the foundation for therapeutic success is understanding the unique strengths of an individual. Tapping these resources that we each have assists individuals in finding their "best self" and increases the ability to problem solve, cope with difficulties in life, build stronger and healthier relationships, and increase overall quality of life.

I use an integrative approach, encouraging you to be more compassionate and kind to yourself, while fusing empowerment through feminist/multicultural/social justice modes, and supporting your authentic self to shine.
We all have things we like in our lives and things we'd like to change for the better. This may mean improving relationships, a desire to improve mood, and/or addressing health issues or social issues impeding on one's ability to have the life they want. We are all doing the best we can, but often we want something more out of life, and we need some help to bring this to fruition. Therapy provides a safe and supportive space to identify what is going well and what might need change. It can also facilitate new effective ways of being.

I integrate elements of psychodynamic theory, feminist theory, and person-centered theory.
As you’re walking along your path, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed, lost, or stuck. There are often different forks in the road, rough patches, and noises behind you demanding your attention, which make it difficult to continue forward. I’m here to help teenagers and adults seeking to improve their wellness and develop a better understanding of their path. As a queer person, I also know the stressors of navigating a cis-het normative culture. For Trans and gender expansive folx, I use informed consent and self-determination models.

You deserve to be happy. No matter what has happened, or where you've been. We all have troubles, and we all need a little help sometimes. I am here to help you figure things out. You hold the key to getting better. You know yourself better than anyone, but sometimes when we're close to an issue it's hard to see the bigger picture or the best solutions. We will work together in a safe, non-judgmental space.

Therapy is a place for you to name areas of pain, a place to feel without judgment, and a place to reclaim what is yours. Shame is the source of so much of this pain and judgment, convincing you that you are broken. Shame is often so intertwined with sexuality because of the societal silence around the topic. Perhaps sex is painful, perhaps you are more aware of others desires than your own, perhaps you feel empty from running on fumes and enjoyment is the last thing on your mind. Whatever the reason, engaging your sexual health can help overall wellness, and ultimately be the way back into relationship with yourself!

I have special interest in working with creative people (both professional and amateur artists, writers, academics, musicians, etc.); people who have experienced religious trauma; and those navigating the waters of midlife. I work with people who feel deeply and want a richer experience from their emotional lives without it overwhelming them; with those who need help living with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and PMDD; and with those who need an intentional and fiercely compassionate space to learn more about themselves, others, and the world.

You want to appear successful and like you have it “all together,” but deep down, you are struggling to manage your overthinking, perform when it counts, or feel like you’re “enough." Maybe you work hard but still don’t get the results you are striving for. When this happens, you say mean things to yourself you would NEVER say to anyone else. Or, you worry about something you said or did long after everyone else has forgotten about it. Plus, you aren’t always sure how you really feel or what to do with your feelings. You may question why things are so difficult when it seems like everyone else gets through life more easily.

The core of my work is creating a safe space where clients can feel heard, respected, and understood. A full and satisfying life is unique to each person; I will collaborate with you as you move toward the life you want to live. Understanding each client's culture, identities, and worldview is central to my approach. Not only is it important to deeply understand you as an individual, but also to explore how factors in the wider environment either promote your well being or intensify your distress. A holistic approach to wellness involves the individual, their relationships, and their wider world.

Hello hello! I work either in-person w/nature in local parks or virtually via zoom! If we walk or sit together, we'll work following your lead with gentle nudges into the abyss (metaphorically, unless you enjoy muddy!), seeing through blinders, and remembering accomplishments. As for me? I'm a human reclaiming my humanity. I'm recovering from the dominating social order of straight, cis-white men steeped in racism, sexism, patriarchy, homophobia, colonialism, ableism and all the oppressions dreaming of an equitable and environmentally friendly society. (deeply & vaguely spiritual, not religious).

Feminist Therapists

How does feminist therapy work?

Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.

What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?

Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.

How long does feminist therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

Does feminist therapy work?

As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
