You are busy, hardworking, and known to be capable. On the outside, you’ve got it together but on the inside you’re wondering how to keep your head above water. Stress, anxiety, or distress from obsessive-compulsive ( OCD) disorder is too much to take on alone. You're saying "yes" more than you should and losing track of who you are while you succeed in making things ok for everyone else. You have a mind that you can’t turn off and you could really use a moment of peace. Emotions are coming up and out at times you didn't plan. It's hard to be joyful because you wonder, "when is the other shoe going to drop?" Something’s got to give.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder ( OCD) and anxiety are treatable.
If anxiety and fear have more control over your life than you do, you are not alone. Living with relentless-intrusive thoughts, scary images, paralyzing anxiety, and mental and health-related fears is exhausting. If you support a loved one suffering from OCD or anxiety, it can be just as painful. Being pregnant or a new parent adds additional factors like hormonal changes, stress and responsibility, which can make symptoms worse. Working with me, you will gain a better understanding of what is happening, reduce unwanted symptoms like anxiety, fear, and shame, and learn helpful tools and coping skills to manage all of it.

Brainspotting for issues such as Trauma, PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, Stress, OCD and more.
My therapeutic philosophy is that it's not what is wrong with you but what happened to you. I believe that symptoms like anxiety and depression are not signs of weakness but messages to our mind and body telling us that something is not right and needs to be addressed. Maladaptive ways of coping may have once served us by dulling stress or pain but are not working any more, and so we have to learn new, healthier, more adaptive coping skills. I believe both the body and mind work together and are ultimately designed to survive, heal and thrive. Sometimes we just need understanding, validation and support to navigate the process.

Narcissistic abuse can lead to inner turmoil within a world of isolation and helplessness. Interpersonal connections can benefit us in so many ways, but when intimate relationships have caused you to lose the once healthy image you had of yourself, it can leave you feeling depressed, anxious, or constantly questioning yourself. If it seems near impossible for you to trust yourself or your truth, find that you’re beating yourself up, and have an inability to acknowledge your strengths, support is essential. Finding help when dealing with narcissistic abuse is an imperative piece towards the path to recovery.

You still might not be sure how therapy helps. Especially with a “psychologist” who uses “air quotes” so “unnecessarily.” You might not trust someone who you think "wants to fix” you. I get it. But therapy is your space. You get to use it however you please.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.
What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.
Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.
Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
