I work with families and couples who may be questioning their connection to one another, and with individuals who feel stuck, unmotivated, or afraid. As a family therapist, I encourage people to explore how the different systems they are a part of impact the quality of their lives. How does their family function? Their place of work? Their culture? Together we explore how making changes in ourselves impacts our relationships to these different systems. We change our world by changing our relationship to it.

My first ten years as a psychotherapist were spent in New Orleans, where I worked, in part, to provide support and healing to members of a community ravaged by the traumas of Hurricane Katrina and the BP Oil Spill. This experience equipped me to serve people within the context of dramatic and disruptive life changes. I collaborate with my clients to manage their symptoms, transform the effects of trauma and grief, address creatively relationship issues, career changes and artistic blocks, and engender personal growth.

Teresa Bay is a licensed professional counselor in the State of Wisconsin who works with adults, adolescents, couples and families facing a wide range of life challenges. Teresa uses a solution focused, down to earth and compassionate approach to assisting clients with complex life problems and coping with mental health difficulties. Teresa also draws from a wide array of personal life experiences and this strongly enhances an informs her abilities to connect with clients and meet them where they are at in working towards the goals of emotional healing and personal growth.

I have provided clinical services in a number of settings including college/university counseling centers, community mental health clinics, and in private practice. My own research and scholarly interests focus on LGBTQ issues, clinical supervision, supporting underrepresented college students, and current issues in training mental health clinicians. I am a generalist by training and work with clients with a variety of presenting concerns. I enjoy developing relationships with my clients in longer term therapy but often work within briefer treatments as well. I am flexible in my approach to help my clients achieve their goals.

My name is Dr. Theron Parsons and I am an experienced, licensed clinical social worker who takes a supportive, sex-positive approach in working with individuals and couples seeking to improve intimacy and communication while empowering personal growth. I am a strong advocate and ally in meeting the common and unique needs of the LGBT community and their families. I have also spent a decade as a dedicated anti-violence counselor working with clients individually, and in groups, who are seeking to empower themselves through assertive non-violence in their social, professional, and intimate relationships.

First, I enjoy working with members of the LGBTQ+ community, particularly around support with identity exploration or gender affirming care. I know the importance of having someone knowledgeable about some of the specific issues that this community faces and am available to talk about any difficulties.

So, I guess your question would be, "Why should I choose you as my therapist over others? Will I make more progress working with you?" I do believe in educating clients with regard to CBT/DBT/Mindfulness techniques, which are invaluable when used to improve everyday functioning and helping individuals manage distress. However, where clients remain stuck is a combination of 1) Not being aware of underlying unresolved issues and 2) Not knowing how to get at them and bring them forward to consciousness. Often, therapists work with traumatic 'events' that clients bring to them. I process these events, but also help uncover more.

I provide psychotherapy tailored to each individual’s needs, from brief solution focused interventions to in-depth psychotherapy. As life can be unpredictable and challenging at times, so too can these moments of change involve great possibilities. I aim to help people understand these moments for the sake of healing, and for building positive change. I consider it a great privilege to be part of another person's healing process.
