Our minds, bodies, and nervous systems are remembering the memories of distressing life events, even when we don't consciously think of them every day. We get stuck in anxiety and depression- symptoms of inadequately processed, stuck distress from our lives, both past and present.

I have found through 21 years of counseling in a variety of settings that individual therapy is my niche. I'm particularly well-suited for working with adults individually, with a host of presenting issues including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, panic attacks, grief, PTSD, work stress, and adjustment to various life stressors.

I am blessed to study with the best - I studied family systems work with Monica McGoldrick MSW and learned EMDR in 1990 from Dr. Shapiro herself. I have been a senior facilitator for the EMDR Institute and am a consultant for therapists in training. Today I practice family systems, utilizing the genogram - with EMDR as the cornerstone - along with mindfullness and spirituality. I have four children who have taught me about autism, dyslexia, adoption, and assumptions. They are my greatest teachers! I am married to Dr. John Schaut, a master EMDR practioner who works with our combat veterans.

Megan Rische is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Wisconsin who has been practicing since 2019. She graduated from UW Milwaukee with a MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Megan is trained in EMDR therapy and works with individuals from diverse populations starting at 5 years old and up. She also has training and experience with couples and family therapy in intensive in home and outpatient settings. Megan's training and experience involves working with individuals who experience trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, emotional, verbal, and physical abuse, family issues, and school and/or work-related stress.

Therapy is for the client and the client's well-being with my role as the advocate and guide as we navigate through the presenting issues together. My therapeutic tools are offered to the client with empathy, compassion, and acceptance as a means of healing and understanding through this journey toward better living. My clinical experience and training is from an attachment and trauma informed perspective with many specific trainings.

Hello! My name is Kerri Pingel. I am independently licensed in Wisconsin. Children and families are my primary clinical focus. I work mainly with children who have experienced abuse or neglect, trauma, self-harm or suicide tendencies, and foster care/adoption. Before counseling, I was a houseparent for teenage girls in a residential setting and I also worked for an international anti-child sex trafficking organization.
