Eric Downs is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Wisconsin who has been practicing since 2021. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with a major in Communication, going on to earn his Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois. During that program, Eric completed a practicum in stress management, and worked with undergraduate students seeking career development assistance. Working in the St. Louis area, Eric was a Ryan White Case Manager for people of all ages living with HIV and in poverty, focusing on chronic illness management.

My experience includes medical and behavioral health social work and psychotherapy with adults, teens, veterans, seniors and groups. I am licensed in WI, IL, IN, MN, MI as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. There is always hope in working toward positive change in your life. I work with people who are coping with trauma, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, and stress from various life changes or challenges. I believe that therapy should be an accessible and welcoming experience! I use Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS Institute Level 2 trained), EMDR (Level 2) and Motivational Interviewing to support the different parts of my clients as they seek to make changes in their lives. Change can be a scary process, but you don't have to go through it alone. Together, we'll work to understand your goals for therapy and harness your strengths to meet them.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a MS. Degree in Counseling Psychology and a master’s level Gerontology Certification. I have a variety of clinical experiences consisting of working with teens, adults, and LBGTQT+ clients experiencing mental health symptoms and life challenges. I have worked with a variety of mental health concerns, including mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, bereavement, compassion fatigue, adjustment disorders, depression, concerns associated with self-identity and family/relationship issues.

I approach my work with a trauma lens, I am trained in EMDR and I am IFS-informed (Internal Family Systems or Parts work).

My clinical focus addresses the needs of people of all ages experiencing eating disorders, depression, anxiety and self harm/NSSI representing diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. I work in tandem with my clients toward an enhanced understanding of the ways in which our constructions of experience impact the way we think and feel and our subsequent actions and behaviors.
