Children In Balance, a division of Women in Balance, offers high quality behavioral and mental health counseling for children, adolescents and families. We offer individual or group therapy. Our counselors have significant experience and training in working with children and their families. While approaching each person as an individual with their own positive characteristics and one-of-a-kind needs, our counselors offer effective therapeutic techniques that enhance progress. We offer a warm and inviting space where each child can safely explore their emotions and behaviors.

I see adults and children ages 3 and up. I am trained in TF-CBT, PCIT, and EMDR. I also see children with behavioral concerns and I am a dedicated trauma therapist with a passion for helping individuals heal from past experiences and find inner strength. My main modality of treatment is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a powerful therapy approach that facilitates the processing of traumatic memories and promotes emotional healing. With a deep understanding of the impact of trauma on mental health, I work collaboratively with my clients to create a safe and supportive space for their healing journey.

I specialize in working with adults and adolescents. I have 12+ years experience working in the mental health field and have a Masters Degree in Social Work through WVU. I have experience working with depression, anxiety, grief, substance abuse, and behavior issues.

It can be frightening and intimidating to begin the process of therapy; however, that experience can help you to make the changes that lead to a happier and more fulfilled life. Through a collaborative and safe relationship I establish with my clients, progress and change is made. Michael Rucker is a clinically trained marriage and family therapist and has been in practice for over a decade in Charleston, WV and Morgantown, WV. He has worked with a broad population of clients, including individuals, couples, families, children, teenagers, and groups. His passion and life experiences has led to an interest and specialization with a myriad of topic areas that he excels with, including but not limited to infidelity, infertility, mood disorders (depression and anxiety), trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorder, learning disabilities, addiction, marital issues, and divorce adjustment.

Emotional and behavioral challenges in childhood and adolescence affects the child and rest of the family unit as well. Caregivers often find themselves heartbroken while they watch their child struggle through issues they wish they could take away, and if the child is acting out behaviorally, it is common for caregivers to even feel hurt and confused. I offer therapy services for children ages 3 and up, as well as adults and families for the diagnosis and treatment of emotional, relational, and behavioral concerns, as well as offer support services and psychoeducation to their caregivers and other family members.

She creates an environment of warmth, caring, humor, & authenticity to help those that want to work on acute issues as well as those who are evolving to be their most grounded & true self. Kristin incorporates creative approaches (art, writing, meditation, guided imagery).
