As an LICSWA, I specialize in providing therapy to teens, adults and first responders facing challenges such as OCD, PTSD, Panic Disorders and Phobias.
I believe there are two important aspects of effective therapy, 1. The therapeutic relationship 2. Evidence-based practices. It is important to find someone you "click with" and who you trust to guide you through the process of healing. I have spent my career working with both adolescents and adults. This has ranged from working in the pediatric ER and community crisis programs to intensive outpatient therapy programs. Life is hard, and the coping skills you developed along the way may no longer be serving you. I'd love to help you learn new ways to approach life so that you feel ready to be your own therapist when our work is done.

It can be difficult to reach out for help. I hope to make this easier by providing a warm, inviting experience without unnecessary pressure. I believe in allowing my clients to drive their own healing processes through new insight into their problem areas, and by helping them build skills for lasting results. I particularly enjoy working with clients who have never experienced the benefits of therapy. My clients range in age from 22 through 94.

Taking a client-centered approach, I work to assist individuals, couples and families in reaching the goals that they bring with them to therapy. I believe that trust and compassion are essential to the success of therapy and my role is to facilitate that relationship of trust. I strive to be culturally aware and humble, recognizing that no two people experience life the same way. My goal is to help clients find their strengths and resources in a brief, systemic way. Some of the models that inform my approach include Narrative Family Therapy and Collaborative Therapy.

I specialize in working with individuals dealing with depression and anxiety, particularly those facing uncertainty in navigating new situations or resolving long-standing challenges. Many people struggle with relationships—whether with family, friends, or colleagues—or feel stuck when trying to achieve personal goals. Issues such as grief, loss, and persistent stress can compound these difficulties, and the strategies that once helped may no longer work, leading to feelings of frustration and self-defeat. As a counselor, my goal is to provide a safe and supportive space where you can openly explore your concerns.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
