I admire the courage it takes to seek help and make change, and believe everyone has the capacity for healing. I bring compassion and curiosity to my person centered work with clients. My approach is collaborative, feedback driven, strengths based, and often infused with play, art, and nature therapy techniques. While the work we do will be as unique as each client, I am most inspired by internal family systems, emotionally focused therapy, solution focused brief therapy, and AEDP.

If you've ever felt uncomfortable with mental health diagnosis and thought "there's more to me than a diagnosis", you might be looking for an Enneagram Informed Therapist. I work with adults and couples who are typically diagnosed with anxiety, depression, or ADHD and use the personality framework of the Enneagram to help them understand their whole self, rather than just their diagnosis. I am a licensed Marriage & Family therapist, as well as an Enneagram coach who combines Western and Eastern treatment methods. I have additional training in Hakomi Method, Drama Therapy, and am certified by CP Enneagram.

As a family therapist and a mother myself, I understand the complexities of parenthood, but also how to support children at various stages of their development.
Currently accepting new clients and offering both in-person and virtual sessions! I specialize in working with mothers who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, and/or who are just feeling overwhelmed. Being a parent is a joy like no other, but it is also immensely demanding. Experiencing your own difficulties while also trying to be there for your child(ren)’s needs can be extremely exhausting. It is so easy to lose yourself in it all. I am here to help you navigate your role as a parent as well as to help you find the space to foster your own self-compassion and self-care.

These life transitions can bring grief, loss, stress, anxiety, and depression. Together, we will work to identify your goals and increase your awareness, insight, and understanding so that life feels more manageable and fulfilling.

I provide a safe and compassionate space for you to reflect, find clarity, and feel supported as you make changes to make your life more what you'd like it to be. Sometimes this is after many years of trying to make relationships work without therapy. Sometimes this is when you realize you're too lonely and isolated and need some support to break those isolating habits. Sometimes this is when you have taken on all the stress and responsibility of your family and you feel at your breaking point. Psychotherapy can help you find ways to make your life the one you want to be living.

We don’t always have control over the things that happen to us in life, but we do have control over how we choose to respond to them. When we know ourselves, and family patterns, & have the power to own our own history we are better equipped to meet these challenges & establish healthy patterns. I believe in a person-centered, integrative, strengths-based, bio-psychosocial approach. Regardless of your story, it is your own & as such you are the expert. My role is to help assist you along your journey by helping to facilitate a deeper understanding of who you are while reminding you of the importance of self-compassion & self-care.

Feeling stuck? Having thoughts like “I’m not good enough”, "you’re letting everyone down", or just feeling overwhelmed with anxiety. It feels like there’s so much happening…You try so hard for everyone else in your life and there’s nothing left for you. It can feel like drowning. These feelings, while normal, are very isolating. As a late ADHD-er/neuro-spicy individual I know how complicated all these things can be. I've worked 12 years in the mental health field with adults navigating issues of anxiety, ADHD, trauma, family of origin stuff and burnout with the goal of improving self-esteem and quality of life.

Sometimes we encounter hardships that seem too overwhelming or painful to manage. These struggles may occur in marriage, family relationships, parenting, at work, or coping with every-day life. They can be destabilizing, leaving us feeling hopeless and helpless. I believe these uncomfortable emotions can often be a window of opportunity to look deeper into what has happened, our role in it, and our reaction to it. Within these moments, we can unravel our own inner wisdom to help us heal and grow.

I love helping caregivers understand the meaning behind challenging behaviors. From there, we can use that information to improve relationships and build important skills such as communication, positive self-esteem and independence. I focus on family dynamics and environmental factors when addressing each individual, with the aim to improve the lives of each family member.

Expressive therapies offers a unique way to language those issues using art, painting, clay work, journal writing, sand tray play and canine therapy, and they begin to externalize worries and concerns, crisis and trauma through symbols and mastery is gained. When families in pain begin to play together, perceptions of each other are changed, communication is accomplished and individuals experience their true potential.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
